What Makes My Intensives Different
My intensives are distinguished by the effective blend of Emotionally Focused Therapy and sexual health, tackling both emotional and overall intimate well-being in your relationship.
With more than ten years of experience specific to adult-attachment and sexual relationships, I specialize in pinpointing the underlying issues that may be holding you back and offering clear, evidence-based strategies for meaningful change.
Every intervention, insight, and relationship modification is drawn from foundational models of cognitive and behavioral change theories that have been researched and studied extensively.
These include: Psychodynamic Therapy with a focus on Objects Relations, Schema Therapy and Internal Family Systems, Emotion Focused and Emotionally Focused Therapy, Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Somatic Therapy and Mindfulness.Your time, energy, and money is valuable.
That is why I don't waste your time with small talk, cookie-cutter tools, or social media suggestions.
You get real expert help with Angela.
My goal: That at the end of our time together you say,
"That was absolutely worth every penny and minute spent!"

Getting the Most from an Intensive
Angela's intensives are grounded in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) and integrated sex therapy. While some approaches to intensive couples work emphasize communication strategies and relationship skills, EFT goes beneath the immediate problem to understand the emotional and relational patterns that keep couples feeling stuck. Together, we'll look closely at your unique negative cycle—what happens between you, what happens within each of you, and how protective responses that once helped you manage vulnerability or maintain connection may now be getting in the way of the relationship you want. Intensives can be especially helpful for couples who have had some previous experience with EFT, either individually or together, although prior EFT therapy is not required. What matters most is a willingness to be curious about yourself, your partner, and the patterns between you. Couples tend to get the most from this work when they are willing to slow things down, notice their own emotional reactions, consider their partner's experience, and allow Angela to guide them toward a deeper understanding of what is happening beneath the conflict. You don't need to arrive knowing how to do any of this. That's part of the work we'll do together.
What Happens After the Intensive?
Our work together is intentionally focused on the intensive rather than the beginning of ongoing weekly therapy. This allows me to continue offering this specialized service to couples while maintaining space for my existing therapy clients.
This can be a hard boundary for me, as I would genuinely enjoy continuing to work with many of the couples I meet through intensives! However, the end of the intensive does not mean the door is closed.
Couples are always welcome to return for follow-up sessions or additional intensives when a focused period of work would be helpful.
If you would like ongoing support, I can also help connect you with a skilled and seasoned Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist (EFCT) who can continue building on the work we began together.
My goal is for you to leave the intensive not only with greater understanding and movement in your relationship, but also with a clear sense of what comes next—whether that means putting what you’ve learned into practice on your own, returning for a future intensive or follow-up, or continuing the work with an experienced couples therapist.

Is an Intensive Right for Us?
Angela specializes in helping couples move beyond simply understanding their negative cycle to actually changing the stuck and spiraling patterns that shape both their emotional connection and sexual intimacy.
Couples do not need to be in a good place to begin an intensive—in fact, many aren't. However, an intensive does require enough safety and stability in the relationship for both partners to participate in focused, emotionally engaged work together.
An intensive may not be the right fit at this time when:
-
There is current emotional, physical, or sexual abuse, threats of harm, or other significant concerns about either partner's safety.
-
Trauma responses are currently so activated that one or both partners frequently experience panic, rage, severe dysregulation, or difficulty remaining safely engaged with one another.
-
Vulnerability, emotions, or personal disclosures are regularly used against one another in ways that make emotionally focused work unsafe.
-
Alcohol, drugs, or other substance use is significantly interfering with daily functioning, emotional regulation, or the health of the relationship.
-
One or both partners are experiencing an acute mental health or life crisis that requires a greater level of support than can safely be provided within an intensive.
-
The couple is involved in divorce or legal proceedings and is seeking evaluation, documentation, recommendations, or testimony for use in court.
Not being a good fit for an intensive does not necessarily mean that couples therapy isn't appropriate. Sometimes other support or treatment simply needs to come first.
If you're unsure whether an intensive is appropriate for your particular circumstances, please talk with Angela. Part of the consultation process is determining together whether an intensive is a safe and useful next step for your relationship.
