Your Local Psychotherapist - Here to Guide You

Finding a therapist today is nothing like it was back in the days of Freud.  Thankfully, therapy is no longer exclusive to upperclass folks and high society.  But the vast array of options can seems endless.
Most people choose to use their insurance.  The benefit to you~ lower out of pocket cost!  The downfall ~ Insurance companies have pay out ceilings that are often constrictive to cost of living, meaning your in-network provider has to work harder (more sessions) in order to keep their business afloat.  This often results in less individualized time they can offer to your treatment. Another downfall~ your diagnosis is recorded and open to insurance companies.  Insurance requires that you have a diagnosis. Once you agree to insurance covered treatment, they have rights to audit your file at their discretion.  This is often a regular occurrence as insurance companies monitor their pay-outs.

As psychotherapy blossoms to be more inclusive and accessible, options to online therapy subscriptions are also on the rise.  These companies often have skilled clinicians on their sites and a wide range of marketing tactics.  But, I can tell you first hand (uhem, I applied) that their demand for patient caseload does not provide a living wage.  Clinicians might see $10-15 for every 20 minutes they are with a client. The subscription programs are meant to incentivize short sessions with patients, while encouraging patients to text, or email instead. Therapists are reimbursed for their word count with 500 words paying roughly $10-15.  That means your therapist needs to write A LOT!  Can they really get to know you and your most vulnerable parts through texting?  I don't think so.  At least I can't.

You can expect that I will do my best to create a environment that is open to you and all the parts that you are looking to explore or need help understanding.  My caseload stays small so that I can devote time to research, consultation, trainings, and collaborating to provide you the individualized attention you deserve.  You are not a word count to me, or ticking down of a clock.  You are important and if I can't help you reach your goals, I will do what I can in my power to set you with resources, referrals, and community supports.  You can expect me to assist you with filing for out-of-network reimbursement for our session, if you choose.

My services are limited to my working hours and I do not provide crisis response and am not available to correspond 24/7.  However, I am accessible (my clients text or email and get a response within 24 hours), I am resourceful (I network with clinicians across the states of Texas and California to find answers) and I care deeply about supporting people to live happier and more fulfilling lives (that's why I do this work!).

If this sounds like what you are looking for- give me a call for your free 20 min consultation.
